Painted Blooms Collection review

Painted Blooms is a brand new paper and embellishment range from Dovecraft designed in collaboration with Collier Campbell, a company renowned for its nature inspired collections.

I have used this array of Dovecraft products to prepare finished project samples for the Trimcraft shows on Create & Craft TV as well as blog posts on the Trimcraft web site and the range is simply stunning.  I hope to be able to show them again on Create & Craft TV on 1 February .

Each of the 12 different paper designs work equally well in the 12 x 12 and 6 x 6 sizes I have been crafting with. It’s also available in 8 x 8 which is a handy size for both card making and scrapbooking as well as 3D papercrafts. The designs are beautiful and it’s possible to see the original painting effects, the brush strokes and the textures in the patterns. Three of the papers have a pearlescent effect so they have a subtle sheen to them and three others have an embossed finish adding a delicate texture to the papers.

As with any Dovecraft Collection, it’s the embellishments that bring the collection to life, giving crafters so much inspiration and possibilities. This collection is no different, in fact there’s a few items in the range we’ve not seen before, such as flower tape – a reel of two different coloured flowers that can be adhered by simply removing the backing strip. Simple but oh so effective!

The collection also includes the craft favourites such as buttons, paper doilies, adhesive gems, wooden frames, sentiment toppers and bows. The other surprise addition to the collection are embellished paperclips, a large clip with a pink or green flower finsihed off with a button in the centre.

These are going to be great for scrapbooking but I also found that I could use one to secure the top of a handmade gift bag made from a piece of the 12 x 12 paper.

Finally the stamps and dies are a great addition to anyone’s crafty stash. There are two different stamp sets, each with useful sentiments that can be used together with other collections or papers and some of the imagery from the paper designs have been replicated in stamp form such as flowers, butterflies and the bird. The small dies feature the same nature-inspired imagery, together with a dragonfly, all of which die cut a wide range of materials, not just the papers in this collection.

As you would expect, the collection coordinates beautifully so if you’ve never attempted cardmaking or scrapbooking before then this is a great place to start. You know whichever element you pick up from the collection it is going to work beautifully with the papers and other embellishments.

Here are a few of the cards and papercraft projects I have made using the collection, each will be added to my Project Gallery on the Trimcraft website so you can see them in more detail.  You can purchse an exclusive bundle on Create & Craft during live shows on 1 Feb or by visiting the C&C web site.

Please share your Painted Blooms creations with me by searching for Kathy Crafts TV on social media including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Happy crafting.
