There are just a few days to go before I am back in my happy place – The Create & Craft TV studio in Peterborough. There will be no Monday blues for me (although it will be an early start!)
I was flat out last week creating samples using the exquisite papers, useful stamps and fantastic ink pads we will have on the show at 9am on Monday 15 May. (Tough job but someone’s got to do it!!!)
Sweet Nothings is a collection of 16 different papers in one pad designed by the hugely talented Katie Pertiet. She has designed for Trimcraft for about 7 years now creating designs to die for.
The elegant papers are perfect for romantic makes such as weddings, engagements and anniversaries, as well as birthdays, thank yous and many more occasions.
Although the papers are predominantly floral, there are some designs that work equally as well for masculine makes.
This Birthday Boy card uses the green papers and the newsprint design and the stamp is inked with the Dovecraft ‘natural’ ink pad. The paper across the middle of the card is kraft paper dabbed with the natural inkpad to create texture and edges were inked for definition (see the technique here). I distressed the edges of the background layer using the new Dovecraft distressing tool and finished with some gems.
Alongside Sweet Nothings will be the Wild Flower paper pad which captures a vibrant colour palette of dark blue, bold purple and vivid green in 16 painterly designs inspired by nature. This paper collection is designed by Amy Sia, an independent fashion and textile print designer born in Australia, now working and living in London. Amy’s designs have also been bought by fashion designers all over the world including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Urban Outfitters, Asos and Victoria Secret.
Both pads contain 48 sheets and are FSC certified meaning they are sustainably sourced so we can craft with a conscience. They also both feature the iconic First Edition paper effects. Sweet Nothings contains four spot UV designs, two designs with a pearlescent finish and two with fabric textures. Wild at Heart contains three fabric textured designs, three pearlescent papers and two spot UV designs. The remaining papers in the pad are double sided.
Being 200gsm the papers are perfect for cardmaking and 3D papercrafts and the 12×12 size is ideal for scrapbooking. I managed to create a few scrapbook layouts using the papers which I featured on my previous blog post.
There will also be two scrapbook albums available on the show which I have major craft envy over. I might be popping one of these in my basket before the show to make sure I get one before they sell out!
Finally the Dovecraft sentiment stamps and ink pads are fantastic for a craft stash boost or for anyone wanting to try stamping. The large sentiments are ideal for creating the focus of a card and are so easy to use. I’ll be showing different ways to use them on my demos during the show.
Hope you can join me on Monday at 9 or on catch up later. You can watch on Sky channel 674, Freeview 23, Virgin 748, Freesat 813, Apple TV, Amazon Fire and online at http://www.createandcraft.com.
