“No rest the wicked” they say….Well, if that’s true, then I must have been really bad! Or rather extremely good as I feel immensely fortunate that this weekend I get to launch another amazing collection of Christmas crafty goodness on Create and Craft TV.
There are two ranges launching on Sunday – First Edition paper pads and Dovecraft Dies.
If you’ve never seen, or used, First Edition paper pads before then you’re in for a treat! Each and every pad is filled with high quality 200gsm papers with effects that add interest and wonder to any paper craft project. Half the pad is double sided and the papers are acid and lignin free so are perfect for scrapbooking, planners and journals too. They are available in three different sizes – 12×12, 8×8 and 6×6 so there is a pad size suitable for every paper crafter.
Of course the weight means they’re perfect for off the page crafts like home decor, gift boxes and structural makes, but they also lead to amazing cards and scrapbook layouts.
I have purchased countless First Edition pads, and have even been known to purchase several of the same pad, just so I could keep my favourite papers intact and still have enough to craft with. I’m sure I’m not alone in that craft-mad habit!
Of course, the designs in the pads are always exquisite too. Trimcraft works with experienced designers to bring their wonderful artwork into paper form so that we can use them on our craft projects. And in this year’s Christmas collections, Linda Wood, Kristin Cronin-Brown and Katie Pertiet bring us festive imagery to lust over.
Winter Wishes is based on a delicate palette of pastel pink and baby blue combined with soft greys and ivory accents. The frosty designs by Katie Pertiet are adorned with silver foil effects, glitter and spot UV detailing with stars, musical manuscripts and reindeer amongst the imagery. It’s a wonderful collection of papers for crafting throughout winter, not just Christmas. I’m imagining a scrapbook layout with images of a frosty morning walk through the woods starting with one of the 12×12 papers and die cut embellishments of trees and snowflakes to bring the page to life.
In the meantime I’ve crafted a wide range of cards in these papers to decorate the set during the shows on Sunday.
For more traditional festive papers, Trimcraft has worked with Linda Wood to create a classic collection of papers adorned with vintage Santa Claus and angels, robins, poinsettias, wreaths and trees. Within The Gift of Christmas rich green, deep red and classic cream are joined by accents of gold, including gold foil effects and glitter as well as fabric textured papers. This paper pad really does capture the spirit of Christmases past and is perfect for all papercraft projects.
Here are some of the samples I made using this gorgeous paper pad collection.
The third paper pad in the Christmas 2017 First Edition range is Merry Little Christmas. I love the colours in this pad, where pops of deep purple are combined with more traditional Christmas colours.
Here, Kristin Cronin-Brown has provided wonderful repeat festive patterns combining modern and traditional themes. Included in the papers are stripes, tartans, snowflakes, trees, holly and garlands as well as sentiments.
The modern twist on these papers means you can have the best of both worlds. You don’t need to stray too far from traditional Christmas colours and imagery but there will be that touch of vibrant purple to differentiate your cards from the rest.
Here are some of the cards I made with these papers:
As if that wasn’t enough to get your crafting juices flowing, I will also be unveiling the brand new Dovecraft Christmas dies.
You may have seen a few of the gorgeous die cuts used on previous shows as I snook a few into the Simply Creative papers and embellishments launch show but now you get to see them in all their glory!
From cute characters to classic shapes, I think there’s something in here for everyone. The full set comprises a winter scene bauble, a reindeer, a leaping stag, a snowman, a gingerbread house, Santa’s boots sticking out of the top of a chimney (the cutest die ever!), stars, snowflakes, a wreath and bow with holly sprigs, a plump pudding, a tag, a tree, a present and there are also sentiments, Merry Christmas in a plaque and Happy Christmas within an oval wreath. A comprehensive set of Christmas dies indeed!
Hope you can join me on Sunday at 12 noon and 8pm. If there is anything in particular you’d like to see in the demos, please comment below or leave me a comment on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and I will do my best to accommodate! Have a great crafty weekend whatever you get up to!
