I love shows with Rachel, we have a giggle and compare notes about our birthdays. Did you know she’s my birthday twin?
I hope you managed to catch the show (if not you can catch up for a few more days here). I was so excited about the launch. I always love the Dovecraft kits as the designers bring us such wonderful creations, but there is something even more exceptional about this collection. I love the gold glitter, the foil effects and the pearlescent finishes in the paper pad. I adore the gold bee charms with such detail on them, the washi tapes – I am a self-conefessed washi addict – and the stamps!!! Well. the stamps are just divine; have I mentioned how I am stamping anything I find with that gorgous bee? Even the children if they stand still long enough!!!
I made cupcake toppers for the show with the bee and the sentiment stamp. They tasted a little stale after travelling in the car for a few hours and then being in the studio for several more under the very hot lights.
I also used the stamp in my first demo to create a structural card with a belly wrap. The stamp inside was supposed to be the sentiment, but in my excitement during the live show, I used the bee again! Ha ha! I don’t think anyone minded.
Talking of mistakes, I also have to say a massive thank you to Carly Duff for lending me her glue, tape, pokey tool and scissors after i left my craft caddy at home. What a nightmare! Thankfully I had packed foam pads, an ink pad and my acrylic block in with my demo prep and had remembered to pack them in the car. Lesson learned.
In the second demo I showcased the delightful washi tapes, there are three in the kit, one with a foliage design, one with the foiled honeycomb pattern and the Bee Happy sentiment. I placed the washi sentiment onto white card and die cut it out with a tag die to get the main sentiment for the card. I used a strip of each tape as a background and they layered up some die cut tags showing off the lovely papers and finished it off with the bee charm. This was the card we gave away during the show, and I loved it so much I made one exactly the same for my Aunt’s birthday this week.
The final demo was a simple front fold 6×6 card with the papers matted and layered onto gold mirror card and topped with nesting blooms die cuts. The sentiment toppers in the kit make it so easy to make a quick card and of course the jewels are the perfect finishing touch.
Hope you managed to get your kit, but if not, there are still a few available with the members discount on the web site. And if you’re looking for more inspiration using this collection, see my previous post.
Happy crafting folks!
